We’re on Spectrum! Living Advantage, Inc. has officially launched our new commercial on Spectrum, helping us bring greater awareness to the needs, strengths, and futures of foster and at-risk youth. This is Week 5 of my hair restoration journey… and today we’re talking about the ponytail. If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I wore my hair in a ponytail… all the time. And the truth is, it wasn’t just a style choice. It was easy. It was consistent. When your hair is damaged or thinning, you learn how to work around it. You find styles that feel “safe.” And for me, that became the ponytail. For years. Looking back now, I realize how many of us do this, not just with our hair, but in life. We adapt. We cover. We keep going. But eventually… you deserve more than just managing it. You deserve to restore it. The truth is—my hair didn’t just “suddenly” fall out. This was years in the making. Over 50+ years of coloring, heat, stress, and not always prioritizing my natural hair… it caught up with me. And like many women, I didn’t talk about it. I covered it, worked around it, and told myself it wasn’t that bad. But it was. Hair loss and damage can feel personal. It can affect your confidence in ways people don’t always see or understand. And for many women—especially in our community—it’s something we go through quietly. That’s part of why I chose to start this journey. After more than 50 years of coloring, heat, and damage… I’ve made the decision to start over. This is Day 1 of my hair restoration journey.
