Community members who may be eligible to clear a criminal record can receive free assistance at an Expungement Clinic in Carson on Wednesday, September 30.

The event is being presented in partnership with the Carson African-American Empowerment Coalition, Community Legal Aid SoCal, and Mayor Pro Tem Cedric Hicks. The clinic is designed to help eligible individuals take steps toward clearing their records and removing barriers that can affect employment, professional licensing, and other opportunities.


Why Record Clearing Matters

For eligible individuals, clearing a criminal record may help create access to new opportunities, including:

  • Increased employment opportunities

  • Greater access to professional licensing

  • Additional organizational or membership opportunities

  • Legal benefits in certain situations

  • A fresh start toward personal and professional goals

There is no cost to participate.


Who May Be Eligible?

Participants must meet the clinic's eligibility requirements. You cannot:

  • Be currently on probation or parole

  • Have an open or pending criminal case

  • Have outstanding warrants

  • Be seeking to expunge a felony sex offense through this clinic

  • Be seeking to expunge a federal case through this clinic


Attendees will also have an opportunity to connect with the City of Los Angeles HEART Team, which provides assistance related to traffic tickets. For information about HEART services, call (213) 978-1937.
