As we celebrate July 4th, the excitement of the World Cup, and America’s 250 years of independence, we are reminded that every generation needs people willing to show up, lead, and create opportunity.
For Living Advantage, Inc., this moment is more than a celebration. It is a reminder of the work still ahead and the responsibility we all share to support the next generation, especially foster youth and justice-involved young adults who deserve access to education, career pathways, mentorship, and stability.
For 33 years, Living Advantage, Inc. has been committed to helping young people move from surviving to thriving. That means helping them secure vital documents, stay connected to school, prepare for employment, build confidence, and see themselves as future leaders in industries such as technology, sports, entertainment, business, healthcare, and more.
This July 4th, we encourage everyone to celebrate safely and enjoy free community events like Gloria Molina Grand Park’s Summer Block Party, known as the West Coast’s largest free Fourth of July celebration. The event brings Downtown LA together with music, food, art, and a spectacular drone show lighting up the city skyline.
Nationally, America’s 250th birthday is also being marked through major Freedom 250 celebrations and fireworks in Washington, D.C., honoring a historic milestone in our country’s story.
As we reflect on freedom, opportunity, and community, we invite you to think about what independence means for the young people we serve. For many foster youth, independence is not just symbolic. It means having an ID, a job, a mentor, a safe space, and someone who believes in their future.
