Foster Youth Giving Back to Their Community

Living Advantage, Inc. is excited to welcome Jose Aleman as the special guest speaker for our upcoming Career Chemistry workshop. Jose reached out to LA, Inc. because he wanted to give back to the community and support young people who may be navigating some of the same challenges he once faced.
Originally from Cusco, Peru, Jose immigrated to California at a young age and experienced foster care and adversity while growing up. With limited family support and no clear roadmap, he relied on mentors who helped guide him toward education, confidence, and opportunity.
Today, Jose works as a chemist at Terray Therapeutics, a biotechnology company focused on drug discovery. His journey is a powerful reminder that a young person’s circumstances do not define their future. With support, mentorship, and determination, foster youth can build meaningful careers and return to uplift others.
Through Career Chemistry, Jose will share practical guidance on careers, personal development, and the importance of mentorship. He hopes to help youth recognize their own potential and explore futures they may not have imagined yet.
At LA, Inc., we believe representation matters. When foster youth see someone with lived experience succeeding and giving back, it creates hope, connection, and possibility.
