Living Advantage, Inc. recently welcomed Jose Aleman, Chemist at Terray Therapeutics, for our Career Chemistry workshop, where youth had the opportunity to learn more about careers in science, biotechnology, healthcare, and research.

Jose shared his personal journey of immigrating from Cusco, Peru, experiencing foster care and adversity, and ultimately building a successful career in the biotechnology field. He spoke about the mentors who helped guide him along the way and encouraged participants to seek support, stay open to opportunities, and recognize their own potential.

During the workshop, youth received practical guidance on college, scholarships, career pathways, research opportunities, personal development, and the importance of mentorship. Jose’s story showed participants that challenges do not have to define their future and that there are many pathways to achieving their goals.

A special thank-you to Trader Joe’s for helping provide food for our participants and supporting another meaningful learning experience for our youth.

We are grateful to Jose, Trader Joe’s, and everyone who helped make this workshop possible!

We are proud of everyone who showed up, participated, and took one more step toward employment readiness.

But we need more of you to show up!

These workshops are created for our youth - to help you build confidence, gain skills, connect with professionals, and move closer to earning, working, and building your future. Whether you have never had a job before or are getting ready for your next opportunity, this space is for you.

Our next workshop is Financial Soccer - REGISTER HERE
