Mission Statement
The mission of Living Advantage is to eliminate unemployment, homelessness and incarceration for youth in foster care living in Los Angeles County. By locating and electronically storing their vital life documents they are identifiable and able to receive services and resources from the community on a consistent basis. Utilizing innovative technology and media enables us to better serve and meet their needs.

     April, 2010 Manual Arts High School MOU

 

 As of December 31, 2009 Living Advantage Inc. serviced over 820 youth and community members for 2009.

Board of Directors 2008

Eugenia Wilson: Started her career with Living Advantage in May of 1996. Eugenia has provided experience and knowledge with over twelve years of continuous service to the care of youth for the California Court system. She currently is the Facility Administrator, whose daily duties include acting as liaison between Public School District's, Department of Social Service, Licensing, Mental Health and the Courts. Other duties include managing and supervision of employees and residence, making sure that the facility is operating up to code: rules and regulations.

Professional Affiliations:
Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Department of Social Services Group Home Standards Forum, California Community Care Licensing Advisory Board, California Coalition of Foster Care Stakeholders and California Alliance of Child and Family Services.

Dr. Paulette Gorsuch: A state licensed Marriage, Family Child Counselor, Social Worker and Teacher with experience in teaching inmate population Parenting skills, Substance Abuse Education, and Job Development. Ten years experience as Orange County Senior Social Worker supervising court ordered child abuse case plans and acted for two years as supervisor of shelter childcare staff. Assisted in the founding and creation of a community run-away Youth Shelter. Grant writer, Policy Maker, Program Recruiter, Staff Development, A Red Cross HIV/AIDS Community educator, Volunteer Coordinator, Program Consultant for Group Homes and Non-profit organizations.

Professional Affiliations: California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, Los Angeles County Substance Abuse Prevention Network, American Association of Higher Education, National Association of Alcohol & Drug Counselors, American Correctional Association.

Barbara Lindsey: Nine years ago she founded the Black Business Expo. Recently sold it to one of the largest Health care providers, United Health Plan HMO/Watts Health Systems. She now serves as a consultant to the Expo. She has been an entrepreneur in the L.A.community for over thirty years. She has also been very successful in promoting; creating businesses and spectacular events. She can bring private sector monies to our non-profit organization.

Professional Affiliations: Public Service, Radio & TV Public Service Media, Member Links, Member T. V. Stations, The New LA Business Group, Family Savings Bank, and host of numerous organizations.

Curtis B. Harrison: Has own and operated a computer resource center. Major skills and talents are in managing the creation of feature and trailer film and video post process for the film, telecin mixing editing, DVD and Hi-Def process. Entrepreneur in the catering business.
