LIVING ADVANTAGE FOUNDER

Bernice W. Clay, the founder of Living Advantage, Inc. w/family
In September, 1993 Living Advantage, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit organization. Bernice W. Clay, the founder, established the organization to further carry out her mission to help underprivileged youth in areas of special education, severe emotional and behavioral problems, and speech impediments. She received her Speech Pathology degree in 1976 and worked as an Aphasia/Special Education teacher for over 20 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District. The other founding members have diversified backgrounds. Together they opened the first (6) bed group home in 1996.
Unfortunately, 3 months after the opening of the Advantage Living Group Home, Mrs. Bernice Clay became ill and had multiple health challenges over the following three years. Operations continued with the commitment of the Board of Directors. Unfortunately Mrs. Clay passed away June 2, 1999 from her battle with cancer, but her legacy and dream still continues to shine on today.
